Meet Sam Blumberg, LMFT

Hi, I’m Sam Blumberg.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (license number 100526), the Co-Founder of the Blumberg Family Therapy Group, and the creator of Action Growth Therapy. With a passion for sports, I have worked with college-bound and collegiate athletes, professional athletes, and retired athletes, with a focus on performance and skill-based growth to enhance results.

I also help married couples, some of whom are professional athletes, navigate unique challenges and strengthen their relationships. I assist individuals going through significant life transitions, such as school, work, and divorce.

Taking action towards therapy is a crucial step in achieving personal growth, and I’m committed to empowering individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds to achieve their desired goals.

My areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavior modification, mood disorders, pre/post divorce, parent education, family therapy, teens and loss. Despite some of my clients’ initial hesitations, I build a therapeutic connection and deliver effective and meaningful services to my clients. With over ten years of experience in hospital settings, foster care, and private practice, I value a collaborative approach that involves all parties.

My approach to therapy

You're a unique individual, so therapy should be totally customized to what you need. I work collaboratively with each of my clients to make sure that our work together is tailored to you. During our time together, I want you to feel heard and supported, and a big part of that is finding what works for you—not throwing a one-size-fits-all "fix" at you.

With that being said, I find that a systemic approach is often effective in making big changes. Using a systemic lens helps us view the larger context of your life. After all, you don't exist in a vacuum. Your relationships, where you live, and your culture all have important effects on how you operate. Understanding how these intersect is key.

I also use approaches like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. In CBT, we take a look at how your thoughts influence your actions and vice-versa. By making important shifts in how you think and behave, we can create important changes in your life.

Solutions-focused therapy is exactly what it sounds like: focusing on solutions instead of problems. We'll key in on your strengths and figure out creative ways to apply them. Plus, we'll explore new ways for you to approach the challenges in your life and crush your goals.

Sound like a good fit? Don't hesitate to reach out. With a little guidance and support, you can finally feel confident making the changes you need to live a life you feel good about.
